CEM Students Earn LEED Accreditation

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. The Stanford Association of CEM organized an opportunity for construction oriented students to become LEED Accredited Professionals during the winter quarter of 2008.

Jiffy Vermylen, an alumni of the CEM program and a current Project Engineer / LEED Coordinator with DPR Construction, graciously agreed to facilitate a five week self study program culminating in a full day LEED workshop to review and practice applying the rating system. At least 10 CEM students have earned or will soon test for their LEED Accreditation as a result of this effort. Jiffy as well as some participating students are hoping to offer this opportunity again next year and possibly transform it into a one credit class within the program. A large thanks goes out to Jiffy and to DPR for continuing to support the Stanford CEM program. Thanks!
